Hope Realized

12/22/19

Speaker: Mark Petersburg

Series: Advent 2019

Summary: Waiting can be difficult. When Mary and Joseph bring the Christ-child to Jerusalem to fulfill the requirements of the Law, they encounter two people who have been waiting, hoping. God revealed to them that this child was the Promised One, the Consolation of Israel. Their waiting was over. Hope was realized. What should we wait for? How should we wait? Why should we wait?

Joy Experienced

12/15/19

Speaker: Mark Petersburg

Series: Advent 2019

Summary: Joy is part of God’s plan and desire for those who believe in Christ, for those who are His children. The reason is that joy is an expression of God’s heart. It shows up in the Christmas story as an angel from God declares to the shepherds: “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of a great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David, a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”

Peace Secured

12/08/19

Speaker: Mark Petersburg

Series: Advent 2019

Summary: Jesus is identified in Isaiah 9 as “the Prince of Peace.” When he came to earth in his first coming, he made possible peace in four different spheres or areas: peace with God, the peace of God, peace with ourselves, and peace with others.

Love Expressed

12/01/19

Speaker: Mark Petersburg

Series: Advent 2019

Summary: The Apostle John declares in his first New Testament letter, “God is love.” As you survey the biblical teaching about God’s love, you find his love expressed in several aspects. They include “in eternity, in creation, in redemption, and through you.” As we begin Advent for 2019, consider the unfathomable, incomprehensible and glorious love of God our Father.
