Tuesday, 28 June 2011 - Jerusalem, Closing Ceremonies

Yesterday's post didn't make it onto the website until today. Technical difficulties. This is our last day and night in Israel and Jerusalem. It is going to be a short post since we are about to have our last meal together and then we will visit the Jerusalem Museum on our way to the airport - they don't waste a minute on this tour, that's for sure. One get's their money's...

27 June 2011 - Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Herodium, Yad Vashem

A 12 hour day today. It was long and tiring, but a good one. The cumulative fatigue of many long days has caught up with all. On the bus at 7 and at the Jerusalem site where historians and archeologists are fairly confident Jesus was crucified and buried. What makes it a bit confusing is that today the site is well within the city walls of Jerusalem. In 1st century Israe...

26 June 2011 - Tzippori (Sephoris), Mount Carmel, Caesarea & Jerusalem

Last night was our final one on the Sea of Galilee. After breakfast we had the day's devotion on the shore and then boarded the bus where our first stop was Tzippori or Sephoris - a Roman city only 4 miles from Nazareth. During Jesus' time it was being expanded and upgraded by Herod Antipas who was the Jewish leader the Romans allowed to govern over Jewish matters in the...

Saturday, 25 June 2011 - Gamla, Katzrin, Bannias (Caesarea Phillipi), & Tel Dan

A full day today - like all days! We spent our time in the Golan Heights which is one of my favorite geographical areas of Israel. The Golan covers the northern part of the Israel. It is high plateau and mountains and is above sea level which is a rarity in Israel. Even the Galilee is 600 feet below sea level. Gamla was our first stop and it means 'camel'. It looks like th...

Star Date - Friday, 24 June 2011 - Sea of Galilee, Jordan River, Bethsaida, Bet She'an

Shabbat Shalom! I am penning this entry while sitting on the little beach on the shore of the Sea of Galilee near our lodging. It is the Sabbath and the Israelis are out in the lovely weather swimming, barbecueing, and windsurfing and sailing on the lake. The weather is warm but the breeze makes it quite pleasant. We got up earlier than usual today - 6:10 AM and boarded a ...

Star Date - 20 June 2011 Arava Desert & Eilat

We spent last night in Mitzpah Ramon (map name) on the rim of Machtesh Ramon. We had our morning devotion overlooking that canyon that has the look and feel of the Grand Canyon on a smaller scale. Then we were off for a two hour bus drive south to a place called Timna. There we hiked in and around a desert landscape that has a Utah desert look at it. It is one of the loc...
